Reputable Breeder vs. Bad Breeder
So, you want to be a breeder?

I've dedicated this website to educating people about reputable breeders and what they do that makes them reputable. I've been studying about this kind of thing for the past 3+ years. I have read several books, websites, etc. I've also read many opinions and have come up with a few of my own conclusions. I don't have all that much in the experience department yet, but I have personally seen a BYB. It made me so sad that the person running it thought that he was doing good yet he didn't realize that he is hurting the breed health-wise. This has made me want to tell the world about reputable breeders even more. I one day in the far future to be a reputable Collie/Sheltie breeder.

I guess you could say that I am "questdriven". Educating about reputable breeders is my quest, hence the title. I do appreciate feedback of any kind. If you think that I should change something, add something, or take something off the site, please let me know and I will put it into consideration. However, please do not insult me. I will not tolerate insults. Keep them to yourself. (I classify insults as degrading comments that happen to be directed at me. Well-written critiques and complaints about the site specifically are more than welcome.)

Please note as well that this site is not a step-by-step instruction manual. The purpose of this site is to introduce viewers to the world of responsible dog breeding (to help those looking for a breeder learn how to identify a reputable one) and to encourage any potential breeders to do their research thoroughly before ever getting into it. Jumping into dog breeding without any knowledge on the subject could cost you the life of your bitch (breeder's and show-term for female dog used for showing and/or breeding), the puppies, and even the stud (breeder's and show-term for male used in showing and/or breeding).

Of course, I can't just make a website and leave my own dogs out, so I've included a page or two for my dogs and posted some photographs of them.

What's New?

4/7/09 - I added a page ("So, you want to be a breeder?"), and improved various sections of the site.
----------------------------------
12/13/08 - It was brought my attention that I did not include what questions to ask a breeder. So I added a page on questions to ask a breeder and questions a breeder should ask you.
